Stephen Fry’s message to the world on World Opera Day

‘What I’ve discovered over a lifetime of listening to opera,’ says the legendary actor, writer and comedian Stephen Fry, ‘is how magical the mixture is of drama and music. When they come together, something extra, something greater than the sum of its parts happens.’

25 October 2019 will be the first World Opera Day, an awareness campaign about the positive impact and value of opera for society. Opera, like other arts, contributes to developing tolerance and understanding, opening minds and connecting people with strong, universal emotions. Just as sport shapes a healthy body, the arts shape a healthy mind. More information about World Opera Day: https://operavision.eu/worldoperaday
